Alexis Pickering

Executive Director

As CVI’s Executive Director, Alexis sets the strategic direction of the organization to ensure CVI’s continued success in our mission. She develops and implements CVI’s vision, using her leadership to empower our members, board, and staff to coordinate positive local and statewide conservation political change.

My story

I am a conservation voter because the greatest threat to our world is the belief that someone else will save it for us. I grew up with the rugged beauty of the Clearwater River and Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness as my backyard in Kooskia, Idaho.

Connection to our public lands and conservation values are something that is inherently part of every Idahoan and I’m honored to be part of an organization that makes the political environment reflect and act on those values.

I’m looking forward to continuing CVI’s nearly 20-year success of working to elect conservation champions, keeping our elected officials accountable, and protecting Idaho’s cherished public lands and waters.

My professional experience has intersected with conservation and/or policy change throughout my career. Those roles included wildland firefighting in northern California, eastern Montana and Idaho, eight years in local public health and aligning diverse partners to improve community health through policy, system, and environmental change, and running for and winning elected office.
