Idaho voters took to the polls to elect pro-conservation candidates
Yesterday, Idaho voters turned out to the polls to elect 14 pro-conservation candidates in local races across the state.
“Voters have overwhelmingly shown their support for these candidates who ran on the platform of protecting Idaho’s clean air and water, community parks, trails, farmland and open space,” Conservation Voters for Idaho Executive Director Rialin Flores said.
Conservation Voters for Idaho Action Fund, a statewide nonpartisan organization working to elect conservation candidates to office, conducted electoral work in support of 18 endorsed candidates in the 2023 Municipal Election. All endorsed candidates go through a rigorous endorsement process that evaluates each candidate’s conservation values on growth, clean energy, outdoor access, open space and more.
“Idahoans once again stood up for the natural environment at the polls, electing candidates that ran on pro-conservation platforms and demonstrated commitment to our land, water, and air for future generations,” Flores said.
The following endorsed candidates won their respective races:
Boise Mayor | Lauren McLean |
Boise City Council D2 | Colin Nash |
Boise City Council D4 | Jordan Morales |
Boise City Council D5 | Meredith Stead |
Boise City Council D6 | Jimmy Hallyburton |
Meridian City Council D2 | Liz Strader |

Ketchum City Council | Trip Hutchinson |
Hailey City Council | Dustin Stone |
Sun Valley City Council | Jane Conard |

Conservation Voters for Idaho Action Fund mobilized voters in support of their endorsed candidates through a variety of strategies, including the knocking of over 11,800 doors.
“With the encouragement and support from thousands of supporters across the state, Conservation Voters for Idaho ensured conservation remained at the top of Idahoans’ priorities for the 2023 general election,” said Flores.
