Conservation Voters for Idaho’s board of directors announces their decision to select Alexis Pickering as the next Executive Director for the organization after conducting an extensive search.

“The CVI and CVIEF Board of Directors are pleased to share a positive pronouncement for a bright outlook for Idaho’s conservation future brought about by Alexis Pickering’s leadership,” said Molly Page, chair of Conservation Voters for Idaho Education Fund.

Pickering will start her new permanent position on May 6th. She succeeds Rialin Flores, who is currently part time and will depart the organization at the end of June. Rialin will use the overlapping time to assist Alexis in transitioning into CVI’s leadership, including connecting her with the organization’s partners and supporters.

“As we approach our twentieth anniversary as an organization, we recognize the importance of having an Executive Director who will continue our momentum in conservation and democracy,” said Collin Todd, Board Chair of CVI’s Board of Directors. “With an excellent pool of candidates and extensive input from the CVI staff, we feel very confident in our choice of Alexis Pickering.”

Before joining CVI, Alexis Pickering, MHS was the Program Manager leading the Western Idaho Community Health Collaborative (WICHC), a ten county, private-public partnership aligning healthcare, public health, and community-based organizations to address the social influencers of health. Pickering currently serves as the President of the Ada County Highway District commission since her election in 2020. Pickering is the youngest commissioner in ACHD history, receiving CVI’s endorsement as a conservation partner during her nonpartisan campaign.

“Alexis brings not only the breadth of experience that we feel is needed in this demanding position, but the leadership skills and reputation within our broader community to step in and continue CVI’s outstanding record of success,” said Todd. “The board made this decision with complete confidence in her.”

“I am honored to be named Conservation Voters for Idaho’s next Executive Director,” said Alexis Pickering. “I am looking forward to continuing CVI’s nearly 20-year success of working to elect conservation champions, keeping our elected officials accountable and protecting Idaho’s cherished public lands and waters.”

Next year, Conservation Voters for Idaho will celebrate its twentieth anniversary as the only conservation organization that directly engages in electoral politics in Idaho.

“With a robust and diverse membership of conservationists statewide; a talented and hard-working staff; a deeply committed, all-volunteer board; and new executive director at the helm, CVI is well positioned to continue to uphold its unique role in Idaho,” said Todd.
