Each year, Conservation Voters for Idaho provides independent, nonpartisan information to the public and our 16,000 members as to which candidates running for municipal and state offices are going to champion the issues they care about – protecting Idaho’s water, air and natural places.
In 2020, CVI will be conducting endorsements for both the State Primary Election on May 19 and for the General Election on November 3. We will not be endorsing candidates in the Presidential Primary election on March 10.
Our endorsement is much more than just a “badge” – we invest funding, staff time, and political expertise to help elect our endorsed candidates to office. We take our endorsements seriously so each candidate is evaluated carefully by using the following criteria: knowledge of conservation issues, potential effectiveness to advance conservation issues if/when elected to office and propensity to be a true champion on our issues.
To be eligible for endorsement, candidates must complete an endorsement questionnaire by Friday, March 20, 2020. All downloaded copies must be received by CVI via email or mail by Friday, March 20, 2020.
If a candidate has been previously endorsed, they may not need to complete a new questionnaire, but should always reach out to CVI to confirm. If you are a previously endorsed candidate and aren’t sure whether you need to complete a new questionnaire, please email our Campaign Associate Chris Parri at chris(at)cvidaho.org before the questionnaire submission deadline of midnight, Friday, March 20.
You can also download a copy of the 2020 Primary Election Questionnaire and email your completed form to chris(at)cvidaho.org or mail in to our P.O. Box listed at the bottom of this page. For press inquiries, contact Shevawn Von Tobel, Communications Director, at shevawn(at)cvidaho.org.
Thank you for your interest in our endorsement process. We look forward to hearing from you!
