We are pleased to welcome Courtnie Dawson to Conservation Voters for Idaho as our new Communications Associate. In this position, Courtnie will be sharing our mission, efforts, updates, and stories to the public through social media, email, website, and more.

Courtnie has lived her entire life in Boise. She spent her childhood (and currently, adulthood) outside in Southern and Central Idaho nature – picking huckleberries, swimming in alpine lakes, hiking trails in the Sawtooths, floating the Boise River.

Her career has deep roots in local food and agriculture. After graduating from Boise State University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and minors in Sustainability and Anthropology, Courtnie went on to share the stories of Idaho’s farmers, brewers, distillers, restaurateurs, and others through writing and social media. Her written works can be found in Edible Idaho, Visit Idaho, FARE Idaho, and Just Eat Local Blog.

She has also worked professionally for environmental efforts, as an adjunct professor for BSU’s “Thinking About Climate Change” course, a volunteer public educator on pollination science and ecology, and in administration with Idaho Rural Water Association.

In her free time, Courtnie loves being outside with a good book, a local beer, and her dog, Porter. She and her husband, Nathan, still spend weekends and vacations exploring Idaho’s public lands and natural sites with friends and family.

Courtnie hopes to contribute a new dimension to CVI’s publicity, using her storytelling and educational skills to share our initiatives with our current and future supporters.
