Carol Sevier accepted a job in Boise at Hewlett Packard after graduating from South Dakota State University. As a first generation, non-traditional student, she was excited to embark on her career in engineering. Carol worked at HP over a 16-year period in both engineering and marketing roles and later was promoted to a product strategist role. After HP, she began a 12 year-long encore career at Boise State University teaching a project-based freshman engineering course. She retired in 2018.
Carol has worked to address food insecurity, equal rights, climate change and others issues throughout her adult life. Most recently, she served as co-President of Idahoans for a Fair Wage, an organization that sought to raise the minimum wage in Idaho through the ballot initiative process.
Carol’s goal in applying for this program is to learn processes and gain insights to allow her to contribute more effectively to those causes she is most passionate about. Carol hopes to meld her work ethic and passion for a more equitable world to create meaningful change. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, travel, hiking, biking and spending time with her family.
