Annie Muñoz was raised in the small town of Nyssa, Oregon. Growing up in a town of less than 3,000 people helped her understand the importance of strong communities. Upon graduating high school, Annie attended the University of Oregon, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She lived in Eugene, Oregon for 8 years where she discovered her passion for helping others. Annie coordinated outreach events as well as focused on providing access to healthcare, education and employment for those that were economically disadvantaged, youth aging out of foster care, the uninsured, the homeless, those living with chronic health conditions, including severe mental illness. She now resides in Nampa, Idaho and works for the Department of Correction as a Re-Entry Specialist, developing successful release plans for those transitioning back into the community after incarceration.
Annie has extensive experience collaborating with local resources and helping people gain access to them. She applied for the fellowship program because she wants to continue to strengthen her skills in advocacy and be an ally for those that feel unheard and are underrepresented on current boards and commissions. She is excited to take on a new challenge. In her spare time, Annie enjoys reading, watching football, listening to live music, and spending quality time with her family, including her dogs and cat.
