2024 Mentor: Dr. Alex Zamora

Alejandro Zamora, Ph.D. was born and raised in southwest Idaho.  He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, and completed his Masters in Social Work and a doctoral program in educational leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.  He additionally completed a graduate certificate in PACs and Political Management from George Washington University in Washington, DC.  Spending much of his career in K-12 education, Dr. Zamora has completed post-graduate training and obtained certifications in school counseling, school building administration, and school superintendency.  Zamora is currently an elementary school principal.

Dr. Zamora has served on numerous boards and a commission, which include non-profit, municipal, and statewide appointments.  In the non-profit realm, he previously served on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Hispanic Caucus, and is finishing his third term on the Treasure Valley Family YMCA Board of Directors.  Additionally, Dr. Zamora serves on the Caldwell Planning & Zoning Commission.  Statewide, Dr. Zamora completed a gubernatorial appointment on the Board of the Idaho Children’s Trust Fund.  He currently is serving on the Board of Social Work Examiners, his second gubernatorial board appointment.  Beyond these roles, Dr. Zamora has worked on various task forces, work groups, committees with local, statewide, national, and North American focuses.
